Operations roles cover the people who drive trains, build and repair our 8,000 locomotives and 100,000 freight cars, and build and repair 32,000 miles track and infrastructure. They also maintain and update the nation's largest telecommunications system.

Operations Management Training
Our Operations Management Training can put you in the field—and in charge—after just a few months of training. This is real railroad work, and an opportunity to lead that you wouldn't have anywhere else. As a manager, you'll run a mechanical shop, major track projects or the logistics of keeping thousands of trains moving safely and on time every day.

We typically visit college campuses in the fall and again in the spring. However, we're also on campus for tailgating before games, sponsoring activities in your Student Union and participating in other events on and around your campus.

Internships & Co-ops
Every day, interns at Union Pacific work on meaningful, visible projects and make a real difference. They also have fun. Through our internship and co-op programs you'll gain experience, free housing and transportation, and take real steps that will help you prepare for your career. For instance, 75% of our interns and co-ops are hired on as full-time employees after they graduate.
